Juxtaposition/Karşılaşma sergisi, Berlin’i hayatlarında ilk kez ziyaret etmiş on öğrencinin, kentin yapısal, sosyal ve kültürel dinamizmi ile karşılaşmaları sonucunda ürettikleri görsel çalışmaları içeriyor. Metropolün çok katmanlı ama artık homojenleşmiş sosyal yapısı ve öğrencilerin estetik gözlemleri ile bütünleşen çalışmalar, kenti algılama biçimleri üzerine özgün deneyimler sunuyor. Çalışmaların her biri kendini özgün bir algılama biçimi olarak ortaya koyup geleneksel belgeleme yöntemlerinin ötesine taşıyor. Projelerin gelenekselden ayrılan özgün dili, kemikleşmiş anlatının kodlarını kırarak, öteki ile karşılaşma deneyiminin olası hiyerarşik sonuçlarını ortadan kaldırıyor. Hem hareketli hem de durağan görüntüler ile oluşturulan projeler, taşıyıcıları olan yüzeyin dile dair engellerini aşarak, izleyicinin onları üretenlerin deneyimlerine ortak olmasını sağlamayı amaçlıyor.

The exhibition Juxtaposition/Karşılaşma is formed by the visual works of ten students who visited Berlin for the first time in their lives. It is the result of their encounters with the structural, social and cultural dynamism of the city. The multilayered but now homogenised social structure of the metropolis and the students’ aesthetic observations combine and result into unique experiences on the perception of the city. Each work sets itself as an original form of perception and goes beyond the traditional techniques of documentation. The language of the works is far from traditional norms, and thus breaks the longestablished codes of narrative, eliminating the possible hierarchical consequences of an encounter with the Other. These projects,using both still and moving images, overcome the linguistic barriers of the surface of their mediums and, in doing so, aim to ensure that the audience share their experience of producing them.
